Topic: John F Kennedy?

I have been reading into JFK and it seems there is a fair amount of historical controversy surrounding his life, presidency and assassination. Yeah, I know, obvious. So, I'm thinking I'm going to focus on his presidency and therefore aspects of his life but stay away from the assassination- Oh boy, those conspiracy theories are sure fun but his life is controversial enough (and complex) without his mystery death. Some pointers would be lovely and much appreciated !

  1. To be honest - the assassination/conspiracy theory stuff would be fun. The whole life/presidency thing is very broad. What aspect did you have in mind? His war record? His shonky father mafia, Chicago ...?

  2. His dealings with Khrushchev, lead up to the Cuban missile crisis. How this is portrayed by historians and how their views conflict.
I've read some stuff that, well, sort of trashes his reputation and then I've read other stuff that makes him seem like an American Hero, idolising him and talking about how great his character is, ect.. Obviously conflict there. So why don't you tell me what exactly I should do based on what I've got so far? Pleaseeeee :)
